Designer Consuelo Castiglioni's Milan men's revolution at Marni has been further solidified in the 2016-17 Autumn/Winter collection. Oversized wrap coats eliminate front buttons to showcase the drape of double-faced wool, while smocks with gathered necklines and shirts with back slits highlight the beauty of cotton poplin. Relaxed single-pleat pants are tapered at the hem for a new balance. Each piece is minimalist and romantic. Chester coats with patch pockets, oversized shirts with large front pockets and flaps, short jackets with shirts peeking out from the hem, patchwork jackets with caps and sneakers—all showcase the masculine "kawaii" aesthetic in relaxed styling, using lightweight, high-quality materials. Of course, astrakhan and nutria fur scarves are essential, iconic pieces of the brand. At the finale, the audience gave a huge round of applause for the Italian modern design, which boldly stands in stark contrast to the classic Milanista image of men who admire sexiness and strength.
