Jan 21, 2016

The world's first official Peanuts satellite, the Snoopy Museum (5-6 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo), opened on April 23rd. The opening exhibition, "My Peanuts," will run from April 23rd until September 25th.
The Snoopy Museum is a collaboration between the Charles M. Schulz Museum, which boasts the world's largest Peanuts collection, and Sony Creative Products, Peanuts' representative in Japan. Scheduled to remain open until September 2018, the museum will hold a different themed exhibition every six months, featuring original drawings from the Charles M. Schulz Museum's collection.
The commemorative opening exhibition, "My Peanuts," will display many of the original drawings beloved by Jean Schulz, wife of original author Charles M. Schulz. Through the original drawings and mementos, visitors can learn about Schulz's creative process and other untold stories only known to Mrs. Jean. One of the highlights is the original drawing, which was a Valentine's Day gift from her husband in 1985 and will be on display for the first time in the world. The monochrome image has been colored and features a red heart and a message.

Other exhibits will include exhibits where avid fans from all walks of life will share their love for Peanuts, original drawings from Lil' Folks, an early comic drawn before Peanuts, and animation featuring the music of jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi, among approximately 150 other items.

In addition, the museum will also open a museum shop called "BROWN'S STORE" with a wide selection of original, limited-edition products, and "Cafe Blanket," which will serve Peanuts-themed food and drinks.
