A documentary has been released that closely follows the guerrilla exhibition of the mysterious street artist Banksy.

Jan 22, 2016

The documentary film "Banksy Does New York," which follows the frenzied month of the mysterious street artist Banksy, will be released at Shibuya Cine Quinto and other theaters on March 26th. A flyer and trailer have also been released.

Banksy is an anonymous street artist known for his guerrilla-style graffiti creations around the world. His "illegible" graffiti on walls and streets has attracted global attention, attracting many celebrity fans, including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Keanu Reeves. He has previously exhibited his works without permission at MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the British Museum, and has painted a portrait of Steve Jobs, whose father was a Syrian immigrant, in a refugee camp in Calais, France, questioning the nature of art and raising social issues.

On October 1, 2013, Banksy suddenly and unannouncedly began an exhibition in New York. Banksy left one piece of artwork per day on the streets of various parts of New York, posting the artworks on his official website without disclosing their locations. A "treasure hunt" broke out on the streets and the internet, with people scrambling across New York in search of the work. Graffiti writers covered the work, building owners protected it with acrylic panels, and gallery owners immediately bought and sold it. This film captures Banksy's crazy month.
