"Arita Ware Bookstore," a special exhibition showcasing the charm of Arita ware through books, will be held at the Daikanyama T-SITE GARDEN GALLERY in Daikanyama, Tokyo, from January 29th to 31st.
The purpose of this exhibition is to raise awareness of Arita ware and the charm of Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, where it is produced. It is a unique exhibition event that uses the power of books to express the stories hidden behind each piece of Arita ware, including its history, techniques, technology, makers, and town.
The venue, paved with genuine pottery stone brought from Izumiyama Magnet Works in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, the birthplace of Arita ware, will display approximately 30 types of Arita ware carefully selected from various kilns and artists. A set of books inspired by keywords extracted from the story behind each piece will also be on display. The book selection was done by Uchinuma Shintaro, a book coordinator who works with B&B and other companies, and representative of the creative team "numabooks." A night bar is also scheduled to be held from 5pm to 7pm on the 29th and 30th.
