On January 12th, KAORI, the new creative director of RMK, appeared in front of customers for the first time at the "SPUR x RMK Happy Makeup Day" event held at the Isetan Shinjuku store. She spoke with stylist Yoko Kageyama about the relationship between fashion and makeup, and also demonstrated makeup looks using RMK's new collection.

KAORI chose "white" as the color that best complements the "pink" RMK is proposing for SS14. She herself wore a pure white vest and pants. During her makeup demonstration, she performed two makeup looks, "SWEET SEXY" and "MODE SEXY," using the same eyeshadow and blush, but simply changing the lipstick. The audience listened intently to the meticulous advice only a makeup artist can offer. During the talk, she also discussed the relationship between makeup and fashion, saying, "Japanese women are good at applying makeup that focuses on specific parts like the eyes. But before you open your door, take a full-body mirror and think about the balance between fashion and makeup, and whether your heart is dancing. Just like you change your clothes every day, I want you to have fun with makeup." She also carefully explained how to create a look using her new items, saying, "The beauty world tends to be obsessed with couture, but just as there is casual fashion, we are creating new items that allow you to enjoy makeup in a casual way." The event was attended by winners from SPUR readers, who competed against a 30-to-1 competition, and the venue was filled with excitement as they watched KAORI's makeup application techniques. Upcoming events include a makeup show for KAORI at the Umeda Hankyu department store in Osaka, marking the start of her activities as the new face of RMK.
