
Ato has announced the release of the fragrance candle "NIGHT RITUAL" (7,980 yen) in collaboration with California-based men's grooming brand Baxter of CALIFORNIA. Based on the concept of "SKIN/ NIGHT/ RITUAL," the scent is based on citrus. Top notes of grapefruit and mandarin are followed by middle notes of geranium and pomegranate, and are capped by base notes of light musk and cedar. The wax is midnight blue, and the packaging is black and gold. The candle will be available for pre-sale at Daikanyama TSUTAYA Bookstore on January 27th, featuring the book by designer Yo Matsumoto that inspired the "NIGHT RITUAL" image, as well as Ato's 2014 Spring/Summer collection. The candle will be available for general sale in early February, and will be available at Ato shops and other locations.
Baxter of California was founded by Baxter Finley, who moved from New York to Los Angeles and realized that men also needed daily care and moisturizing, and created the first men's grooming line. The Beverly Hills headquarters opened in 1965, and the brand became a favorite of many Hollywood stars in the 1970s. In 2006, the brand redesigned its packaging and began producing products tailored to different skin types. The brand has collaborated with Parisian brands such as Colette and Saturdays Surf NYC, but this is its first attempt at collaborating with a Tokyo fashion brand.
