TYPE, a new eyewear brand inspired by typefaces, will be released on January 30th.
TYPE was born from the idea that typography and eyewear have many similarities, including design and function. Just as differences in typeface change the way a message is conveyed in written communication, the brand believes that subtle differences in the design of eyeglass frames can affect the impression the wearer makes.
The lineup will start with two typefaces, "Helvetica" and "Garamond." There are three frame thicknesses and three colors: black, tortoiseshell, and clear. All lens types are compatible with both eyeglasses and sunglasses. There are 36 types in total, each priced at 24,150 yen.
Sales will primarily be online. Customers can order five pairs of their choice from the website, try them out for free for five days, and then place their order. In addition, to coincide with the brand launch, a pop-up store will open at VACANT in Harajuku, Tokyo (3-20-13 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) for three days from January 31st to February 2nd.
