Vivienne Westwood will be holding the "Ethical Fashion Africa Project 2017SS" pop-up from April 12th to 18th at Kotokoto Stage 31 on the 3rd floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store in Osaka, and from May 4th to 17th at Vivienne Westwood Aoyama.
The pop-up will exhibit a handmade accessory collection produced by "Artisan.Fashion," an independent local African business organization, and will also introduce Vivienne Westwood's long-standing collaboration with them. This is the first in a series of events undertaken by Vivienne Westwood's "Ethical Fashion Africa Project," and will feature "Artisan.Fashion" 2017 Spring/Summer bags as well as valuable archive collections.
Also available as limited edition items are the "ORB Tote Bag" (18,000 yen), made from recycled canvas fabric, roadside banner advertisements, scraps of leather, and wooden spatulas made from brass minerals from Nairobi's largest slum, the "CLIMETE REVOLUTION T-shirt" (19,000 yen), the "SIGG Bottle" (5,900 yen), and "Slogan Pin Badges" (6 types/3,000 yen each).
At the venue, visitors can get a glimpse of the various techniques used in the production of the collection through photographs of African artisans sewing, cutting, decorating, and mining Vivienne Westwood bags.
