Nike sneakers become Transformers: Decepticon models released

Jan 30, 2014

Nike, in collaboration with Takara Tomy, will release the Nike Air Trainer SC II Premium (12,600 yen) in February. The sneakers are inspired by the transforming robot series "Transformers." The quarter panels on both sides feature a circuit board pattern, and the heel features an icon of the Decepticons, the villains of the Transformers. The sole is made of a glow-in-the-dark material. The color scheme is centered around purple, the Decepticons' signature color. This sneaker is one of several honorary models for American football player Calvin Johnson Jr., whose powerful play earned him the nickname "Megatron," the leader of the Decepticons. Previously, a Megatron model, the Nike CJ81 Megatron Trainer Max, was also released. (c) TOMY. "Transformers" and "TRANSFORMERS" are registered trademarks of Takara Tomy Co., Ltd.
