Puma signs partnership with Arsenal

Jan 31, 2014

On January 27, PUMA and English Premier League club Arsenal announced a long-term partnership. As a result of this partnership, starting July 1, 2014, PUMA will become Arsenal's official kit partner, producing match and training kits and acquiring global licensing rights for Arsenal-branded merchandise. While the contract length and value have not been disclosed, it is said to be the largest contract in the history of both companies, estimated to be worth around £150 million over five years. Arsenal's kits have been designed by Nike since 1994, and this marks the first change in 20 years. The only other Premier League teams for which PUMA designs their kits are Cardiff City and Newcastle United, so this agreement with Arsenal represents a major opportunity for PUMA. The new design will not be revealed until July 1st, but leaks of it have already started to appear online, including when former track and field athlete Linford Christie caused a stir when he tweeted (and then deleted) a photo of it in October last year.
