Nov 30, 2021
Descente, a brand developed by Descente Japan Co., Ltd., is releasing the "DESCENTE MIZUSAWA DOWN JACKET “ALPINE”," a new and evolved version of the popular Mizusawa Down, a product that has received a great deal of attention both in name and in reality.

This product is manufactured at the Descente Apparel Mizusawa Factory by Descente, a company that has long developed high-performance products such as skiwear, and is committed to its brand identity of "high performance and premium quality."

Mizusawa Down was born in 2008. This down jacket, crafted using heat-pressing technology, is a comfortable garment made with waterproof and breathable materials, making it a long-selling item that has been loved by many for over 10 years. The "ALPINE" in the product name signifies that this model offers high performance for athletes, making it comfortable to wear even on skis and snowy mountains. Recognized for its functionality and quality, this product has been selected for use in the 2022 national team wear of world-class countries, including Switzerland (alpine skiing), Spain (alpine skiing), Canada (ski cross), and Germany (bobsleigh). Ahead of its debut on the world stage next spring, a limited-edition pre-sale will be available in Japan, the earliest in the world, starting Monday, December 20, 2021. Additionally, pre-orders will be available at DESCENTE TOKYO from Tuesday, November 30th, at DESCENTE BLANC Umeda, and on the official DESCENTE online store, DESCENTE STORE Online, from Friday, December 3rd to Wednesday, December 15th.

Developed on a meticulous production line, reflecting the wisdom of a historic skiwear brand

The brand name "DESCENTE" comes from the skiwear that the company has been developing and selling since 1954. Since the 1960s, the company has led the skiwear market with its innovative designs and functionality. In particular, its ski racing suits, worn by the world's top racers in numerous international competitions in the 1970s, gained such popularity that they were nicknamed "the magic suit you couldn't win without." Today, the company continues to provide high-performance wear to the world's top skiers and national teams. As a ski performance brand recognized by top athletes worldwide, DESCENTE has embodied "high performance and premium quality" while faithfully maintaining its "authenticity." With its origins in skiing, DESCENTE, together with its Mizusawa factory, known for its sophisticated technology and craftsmanship, has created the new "Mizusawa Down," which pursues mobility and comfortable warmth for all-mountain skiing. This product was developed and tested at DISC (DESCENTE Innovation Studio Complex), the company's development base. It employs meticulously selected high-spec materials and unique patterns, incorporating new technology to maximize the needs and performance of skiers worldwide. Designed with functionality at its core, this simple design makes it suitable not only for skiers but also for everyday use.

Functional features of the "DESCENTE MIZUSAWA DOWN JACKET ALPINE"

Development 1. Clothing that feels like "skin"

We have developed a "material" to bring out the best in athletes.

● "Schematech Sky"
Skin has different elasticity and strength depending on the joints and parts of the body, and is constructed three-dimensionally as a single, seamless layer. We set out to replicate these skin functions in clothing, and have made it a reality using currently available technology. SCHEMATECH®, a material development technology that allows for different functionalities in different parts of the garment without changing the fabric, is an innovative material that is also water-resistant. This material is designed to vary the stretch function in different parts based on 3D measurements, and by combining it with our proprietary pattern design (S.I.O) technology, which is meticulously shaped to envelop the body, we have created a garment with stretch that is so soft you won't even notice you're wearing it, reducing stress and helping to improve performance.

Development 2. Clothing that "breathes"

Developing "details" to bring out the best in athletes.

● "3D Insulator System" (Patent pending)
Different climates at each destination on an expedition, freezing cold, and temperature swings at the end of the season. Athletes experience intense exercise in such environments, opening and closing their zippers repeatedly, and demanding "what if there was clothing that breathed like an organism?" The back system is a system that embodies this concept. Its special down-filled tube structure and front and back ventilation systems promote airflow within the garment, facilitating ventilation and expelling excess humidity, keeping the body dry at all times. It not only provides excellent heat retention, but also provides ventilation that efficiently expels stuffy air from inside the garment.

● "Breathable System (Breathable System)"
Exhaust ports located at the top back of the jacket work in conjunction with the side zippers to expel excess humidity from inside the garment. It compensates for the limited "breathability" of materials, adding "breathability" and promoting exhaustion, which expels excess moisture and keeps the inside of the garment dry.

● "Dual Zip Adjustment"

It features two rows of zippers located on the front. The size can be adjusted by changing the position of the zippers used, preventing a decrease in performance due to bulkiness when wearing a midlayer.
