Fashion model and singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu was born on January 29, 1993, in Tokyo. She tweeted, "I turned 21 today! Phew!" Her full name is "Kyarora Incharoen Prop Kyary Pamyu Pamyu." She began her career as a reader model after appearing in a street snap for fashion magazine "KERA" in 2009. She frequently appeared in high school culture magazines "HR" and "Zipper," and her unique style of casual clothing, makeup, and blogs written in "Kyary-go" gained her popularity among junior and senior high school students. After graduating from high school in the summer of 2011, she made her debut as a singer with the mini-album "Moshi Moshi Harajuku," produced by Yasutaka Nakata. The album was released simultaneously in 23 countries worldwide, and the lead track "PONPONPON" led to numerous television appearances.
Pamyu Pamyu Revolution, her full-length album released in May 2012, reached number two on the Oricon charts and number three on Billboard. In 2013, she performed at the Nippon Budokan and embarked on a world tour in 13 cities across eight countries. Her second album, Nanda Collection, released in June, reached number one on both the Oricon charts and Billboard.
She has been appointed the official "Harajuku Kawaii Ambassador" by Shibuya Ward, and is spreading Harajuku fashion culture to the world. Last year, she appeared in an advertising campaign for the casual brand "g.u.", and her single "Fashion Monster" was used as the image song. Furthermore, songs like "Ninjari Bang Bang" dominated the top spots in last year's YouTube annual video playback rankings, generating a lot of buzz.
Today is the release date of the DVD "100% KPP WORLD TOUR 2013 OFFICIAL DOCUMENTARY," which mainly features footage from their first world tour, "100% KPP WORLD TOUR 2013." Their 8th single, "Yume no Hajimari Rinrin," is scheduled to be released in February.
