Oct 8, 2013

The "World of Beauty in Mikimoto Advertising" exhibition will be held at the Mikimoto Hall on the 6th floor of the Mikimoto Ginza Flagship Store from December 5th.

This exhibition displays advertisements and promotional materials created by Mikimoto from the company's early days in the Meiji era, through the prewar period, the period of high economic growth, and up to the present day. It explores the company's efforts to popularize and promote jewelry culture as the originator of cultured pearls, from the perspective of advertising.

Founder Kokichi Mikimoto focused on advertising through newspapers and other media from a young age. In the early days of the company, before jewelry culture had taken root in Japan, he promoted pearls as a part of Japanese culture around the world through modern advertisements featuring "MIKIMOTO" and "PEARL." Furthermore, during the period of high economic growth in the 1950s and 1960s, many magazines were published, and top creators worked on innovative advertisements.
