Daikanyama T-Site Books will be hosting a special corner featuring new bags from Olympia Le Tan, popular for its handmade book-shaped clutch bags. The corner is scheduled to run from May 25th to June 14th.
The SS13 collection reflects Olympia's roots as a music lover and DJ. Inspired by jazz, blues, Motown, and the music of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound all-girl bands, the collection features motifs from records, sheet music, and music-related book covers on book clutches and record jacket-shaped 7-inch bags.
The corner will also feature books related to the new collection selected by Daikanyama T-Site Books, showcasing the unique worldview of the two brands, who share a passion for books.
Olympia bags are popular among discerning customers, from Hollywood actresses like Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, and Tilda Swinton to art collectors. The secret to its success is not only the cuteness of its designs, but also their ability to stimulate intellectual curiosity. Each bag is handmade and produced in limited quantities, making it a highly sought-after collector's item.
Olympia was also recently announced as a finalist for the ANDAM Fashion Award, an award for emerging designers that has previously been awarded to Martin Margiela, Christophe Lemaire, and Julien David. Other finalists include haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen and Alexandre Mattiussi of men's brand AMI. The award winner will be announced on July 4th.
