Supermodel Naomi Campbell was born in England on May 22, 1970. She was scouted at the age of 15 and began her modeling career. She appeared on the cover of fashion magazine Elle in 1986, and in 1988, she became the first black model to appear on the cover of Vogue. In the 1990s, she was active alongside fellow models Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, coining the term "supermodel." At the height of her powers in 1996 and 1997, she appeared in a commercial for the Japanese beauty company TBC, where her line, "Naomi," became a huge hit. In 1996, she sang a duet with Toshinobu Kubota on "La La La Love Song." The song was also the theme song for the TV drama "Long Vacation," becoming a million-seller. She has also appeared in music videos for numerous musicians, including George Michael and Madonna. She has appeared in shows for famous brands such as Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen. In 1993, she appeared in the Vivienne Westwood show wearing "Super Elevated Gillie" shoes with 24.5cm heels and fell on the runway, making headlines. She is still active as a top model today, and at last year's London Olympics she appeared at the closing ceremony as a British model alongside Kate Moss and others. However, she has frequently caused trouble in her private life, and has been arrested twice for violent offenses.
