On April 25th, Sanyo Shokai's Mackintosh Philosophy Lounge, a new store concept, opened on the second floor of Tokyo Midtown Galleria. The space formerly held Burberry Black Label.
The newly named "Lounge," measuring 100m², is inspired by the brand's British identity. It features a brick façade and antique-style tables and sofas. The fixtures are spaciously arranged, aiming to create a relaxing space, as the new name suggests.
The store is a multi-purpose store primarily selling women's and men's items. This is the sixth store of its kind. The store also purchases some miscellaneous goods, including perfumes, bags, and umbrellas. The umbrellas are from Maehara Koei Shoten, a luxury umbrella manufacturer. A custom order service exclusive to this store is available (14,700 yen). You can choose from a selection of handles made from maple, rattan, or bamboo, and fabrics in gold, magenta, or navy. For an additional 2,100 yen, you can have letters engraved on the handle.
"We are also considering introducing limited edition merchandising in the future. For spring and summer, we were unable to make up for the shortage with delivery dates for items suitable for the lounge. Instead, we are making up for it by purchasing miscellaneous umbrellas and J.M. Weston bags. We don't know our customer demographic yet, but we would like to develop items with a classy feel. If we find a location like Midtown, we may consider opening a store under the same name," said a Sanyo Shokai planning representative.
