
Freelance announcer Christel Takigawa was born on October 1, 1977, in Paris, France. Her father is French and her mother is Japanese. She came to Japan at the age of three and moved to Hyogo Prefecture. She moved back to France at age 12, but returned to Japan a year later. After middle and high school, she entered Aoyama Gakuin University, Faculty of Letters, Department of French Literature. In 2000, she applied to Fuji Television and made it to the final selection but was not accepted. However, she joined the affiliate Kyodo Television and began working as an announcer. From 2002, she served as a newscaster for "News Japan" for seven years. In 2008, she left Kyodo Television and went freelance. From 2010, she co-hosted "Mr. Sunday" with Miyane Seiji, but stepped down in March of this year. On September 7th, he participated as one of the presentation members in the IOC's bid to host the Tokyo Summer Olympics, held in Buenos Aires. As a result, Tokyo was selected as the host city for the 2020 Summer Olympics. His speech, which highlighted the Japanese spirit of "omotenashi" (hospitality), attracted attention.
