New afternoon tea business "Tea Stand" opens next to Omotesando Tiger

Oct 3, 2013

Next door to Flying Tiger Copenhagen, which drew a 600-person line on its opening day on the 2nd, Ivy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Ryota Tsunoda), also part of the Sazaby League, has opened a new afternoon tea concept, "Afternoon Tea Tea Stand." The new establishment, which currently operates 88 stores nationwide, is the flagship of the self-service tea cafe. This new concept, a departure from stand-style coffee chains like Starbucks and Tully's, focuses on black tea, a service not currently widely available in the market. The standard menu item is the "latti," made with high-quality tea leaves brewed strongly and finished with rich milk and foam. Like the coffee menu, the menu offers both hot and iced options, including frozen latte paired with sweets like apple pie and brownies. Each latte offers a unique topping, creating a refreshing change from Indian chai and British royal milk tea, and is targeted at black tea lovers.

In addition to tea, smoothies and original biscuits are also available, proposing a new "afternoon tea" culture from Omotesando. A Starbucks has also opened on the street leading from Omotesando to the store, so Tiger is now lined up with fellow coffee and tea brands from the SAZABY LEAGUE.
