CARVEN presented its Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Artistic Director Guillaume Henry reflected on his time as a high school student in the 1990s, combining the style of his classmates with the brand's archives, dating back to its founding as an haute couture house. The cowboy-inspired belts that were popular at the time were expressed through delicate beading on simple dresses with structured silhouettes. Large flowers, like those found on haute couture dresses, were printed on light fabrics. A flowing, sheer tulle skirt was paired with shorts. The same 1990s-inspired camouflage pattern was arranged in bright tones of pink and green, and camouflage cutwork was also used on tops and dresses. Small floral prints, gingham check, denim stitching, and silver buttons on denim jackets were also incorporated as accents. Shoes were also matched to the outfits, with floral and gingham check patterns appearing on platform leather sandals and pumps. There is a wide variety of bags available, including a unique rattan bag that is designed to look like an animal standing still, perfect for summer.
