Dior is hosting the exhibition "CHRISTIAN DIOR AND GRANVILLE: THE SOURCE OF THE LEGEND" at the Musee Christian Dior in Normandy, France, until September 24th. Celebrating 70 years since Christian Dior presented his first couture collection in 1947 and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Christian Dior Museum, the exhibition focuses on the great couturier's childhood, delving deeply into the many works left behind by Monsieur Dior and paying homage to a period in his life that influenced his later creations. The museum's three floors feature exhibits including Christian Dior's childhood home, family photographs, books, and paintings, allowing visitors to explore the roots of his extraordinary creativity and revolutionary spirit. In addition, the museum will display memorable couture dresses and shoes from the house's archives, and will unravel the immense influence of Christian Dior through the works of his successors, from John Galliano to Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The Christian Dior Museum, which is also Christian Dior's birthplace, is located on the hills of Granville, not far from the historic site of Mont-Saint-Michel, and it is said that he was fond of incorporating the gray of the cliffs visible from the garden and the soft pink of the mansion's walls into his designs. Dior once said, "My entire life and style are there."
