First time in Japan! "anya kanya" [BASE@Aosando Art Fair]

"BASE," an online shopping service, will be exhibiting at the art event "Aosando Art Fair" (October 24th to 27th). Eight shops using the site will exhibit and sell their products on a rotating daily basis. The venue is the H.P.FRANCE Planning Office (GB3F, 5-17-24 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

FASHION HEADLINE conducted email interviews with participating brands and shops. We will introduce them in relay format. This time, we will introduce "anya kanya," an import goods shop run by Yuki Hosoi, which will be exhibiting on Friday the 25th.


--What is the concept of your shop?
We sell goods from around the world that are making their first appearance in Japan! All of the products we carry are handpicked and directly imported by the shopkeepers. We don't have a particular genre in mind, but we aim to stock items with a strong artistic and design aesthetic.

--What made you decide to sell the items you sell?
I came across the art glass products (pictured) at an overseas exhibition, and was drawn to the unique expression of the cat.
--Why did you decide to set up a shop online?
Until now, I've mainly done wholesale to retailers, but I wanted to create a sales channel for individual customers as well, so I launched an online shop as one way to do that.
--Why did you use BASE out of all the market sites available?
The reason I chose BASE is because it's free and easy to use. The design is also cute. I've kept the design of our site as simple as possible.
--Finally, what do art, design, and fashion mean to you?
They are tools to express things that cannot be expressed in words, and they reflect who you are.
