Isetan launches first official Japanese account for "FANCY" - strengthening online presence overseas

Oct 23, 2013

New York-based social mobile commerce platform FANCY is embarking on a new initiative with Isetan. With Isetan Shinjuku as a satellite venue, ISETAN DESIGN WEEK, which will be held for the fourth year this fall, will also be held online. An official Isetan account has been opened on FANCY, and products selected by Isetan's living department will go on sale from October 23rd.

Isetan's store on FANCY will be its first in Japan, promoting the ISETAN brand to overseas users. Products available to FANCY users this time include glass tumblers with a shoji screen motif by product designer Suzuki Keita and popular glass manufacturer Sugahara; stationery and miscellaneous goods by Newsed Project, which revives waste materials through the power of design; and the BEAN STOOL, a collaboration between interior and space designer Ogata Junichi and Sendai's traditional craftsman, Tohoku Kogei. Going forward, the range will expand beyond living room goods to include apparel and fashion accessories. FANCY Japan was established in February of this year. In addition to the PC version, users can browse and purchase curated items using a smartphone app. As of October 2013, the service has 10 million members in 75 countries worldwide.
