FANCY, a social commerce service, has begun developing a platform app for Google Glass, a glasses-like computer device currently under development by Google.
The app enables the three functions of FANCY—product search, product matching, and simple purchasing—through the Google Glass interface. Users can upload photos taken with Google Glass to FANCY with a single click and share them with friends. If they like the displayed items, they can "Fancy" (collect their favorite items) just like on a PC or smartphone. In addition, products matching the color of a photo taken with Google Glass are displayed one after another from the FANCY items, and a voice reading function is also included. Products displayed on Google Glass can be purchased by clicking the "BUY" button.
FANCY was founded in the United States in 2012 and was selected as one of the best apps of the year by both Apple and Google. It launched in Japan this spring, and the Japanese language support for its website, which was previously available almost exclusively in English, is currently being implemented.
