United Arrows has unveiled the women's collection for ASTRAET, a new brand launching in the 2014 Spring/Summer season. Futoshi Azumaya, president of OFFICE TOYA and founder of Edition at Tomorrowland, is in charge of creative direction. The collection consists of two lines: a permanent collection and a seasonal collection incorporating trendy trends. The permanent collection is positioned as a classic. Using black and white as its primary colors, it features elegant pieces like tuxedos and black dresses, alongside relaxed cut-and-sew items and knitwear. While appearing basic, the collection emphasizes quality and specifications, including 200-count, four-ply cotton knits, silk T-shirts, easy-fit tuxedo pants with elastic waists, and center-lined bust darts. "We propose formal wear for everyday wear and casual wear," says Azumaya. The 0.6mm lamb leather rider's jacket features a thin, padded lining, creating a substantial silhouette, yet is lightweight when worn. The zipper pull features an original design, custom-made for YKK's top-of-the-line Excella. The seasonal collection incorporates contemporary trends, with the 14SS season's theme being "sports." The collection's three themes are elegance, femininity, and college. Tweed and jersey tops and 100% silk track jackets blend elegance and sport. The athletic feel is also reflected in the linear cutouts and the rounded slits found on jogging pants. Feminine lace pieces feature a mesh-like intricate pattern. Several items featuring the brand's monogram logo were also released for a college style. "I'm thinking about starting a brand business. Branding is the most important thing," says Azumaya. Approximately 200 styles are planned. A men's line will also be released.
