CITIZEN won two awards, the "Best Entertaining Award" and the "Best Sound Award," at the Milano Salone, a global design festival held in Italy from April 8th to 13th.
This was Citizen's first time exhibiting at the exhibition. The two awards were won in the official local competition, the "Milano Design Award Competition." This marks the first time a company has won two awards simultaneously since the award's inception four years ago.
The theme of Citizen's installation at the exhibition was "LIGHT is TIME." It used approximately 80,000 "jiita," the base plate that supports all of a watch's components, to create a fantastical space. The delicate yet dynamic space created a buzz during the event, attracting approximately 50,000 visitors over the six days. The installation was created by Paris-based architect Tsuyoshi Tane (principal of DGT) and the Citizen design team. "LIGHT is TIME," an expression of light and time, was created based on Tane's idea that "light is time. Without light, the concept of time could not have been born."
