Ginza Mitsukoshi opened the "Ginza Stationary Festa" on April 9th in its 8th floor event space. The event runs until the 14th. A wide selection of stationery items to brighten up your new life is available, including those from Japan and abroad. Sendai Ohashido, a maker of handmade fountain pens, will offer one-of-a-kind originals (120,000 yen), while Montegrappa, known as the "writing jewel" of writing instruments, will offer a limited-edition "Symphony" (60,000 yen), a revival of a discontinued ballpoint pen. Other brands participating include Platinum and Sailor. A wide selection of paper items is also available. Teruko Zakkaten's handmade hardcover notebooks (starting at 1,500 yen) feature covers made with kimono fabric, leather, cork, and fabrics from around the world, each uniquely designed. Kamino Kousakujo's "Air Vase" paper containers by Torafu Architects (1,200 yen; one each in gold and silver, or three in blue on the front and yellow on the back) can be used for a variety of purposes, depending on your imagination, such as trays for small items, decorative vases, wine wrapping, or as objects.
A pop-up shop for stationery specialty store Itoya will also be open. The store will stock a selection of high-quality items, typical of a specialty store, such as the Itoya 110 Erasable Ballpoint Pen (3,800 yen), an original Itoya version of the popular FriXion Ballpoint Pen, known for its erasable writing, and the Romeo roll pen case (13,000 yen), made from soft, smooth cowhide leather soaked in oil.
During the exhibition, from 3pm to 5pm on the 12th, sign designer Mikamenozomi will create a signature for a customer and give a lecture on how to write it beautifully in the "Parker My Sign Lesson" (four sessions in total, 30 minutes for five people at a time, advance reservation required), as well as other events such as a workshop where you can try letterpress printing.
This is the second time the exhibition has been held. The last time the target audience was male businessmen, but this time the products have been designed with the men and women working in Ginza in mind.
