Isetan Shinjuku is featuring corsages and flower crowns by Severina Lartique, who creates floral decorations using traditional French techniques, at Isetan Bride on the 7th floor of the main building. The exhibition runs until April 29th. On the 19th and 20th, Lartique visited the store to hold an order event. The venue, decorated with white and pale pink rose crowns, each petal made from thin fabric, and corsages of various sizes, were displayed on a pure white tablecloth, creating a festive atmosphere. The flower crown (150,000 yen) placed in the center of the table can be used as a wedding head accessory or sewn onto a dress like a necklace. Photographs of French weddings from the 1920s and 1930s are also on display. Severina explains, "Black wedding dresses were the norm back then." Corsages and head accessories for parties, as well as weddings, are also featured. On a golden tray reminiscent of the Baroque style of the Palace of Versailles, customers were drawn to the numerous items on display, including rose corsages (46,500 yen) in a range of shades from pale to dark, and hair accessories (7,500 yen).
Severina handles every step of the process, from cutting the fabric to coloring, cutting shapes, gofringing (a process to create a three-dimensional effect), and assembling, all by herself. She has been certified as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or Intangible Cultural Heritage Company) by the French Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Employment. Last year, Severina also created the flowers used in the hair ornaments worn by ballerinas in "La Sylphide," a classic romantic ballet performed at the Paris Opera. Severina says, "When I create my pieces, I use my own sensibilities to perceive what I see and embody that worldview in my work."
