BACH is a Swiss-based outdoor brand founded in 1979. Famed for its professional mountaineering backpacks, its high functionality and minimalist designs have earned it recognition as a bag brand suitable for everyday use. Many people will nod in agreement upon seeing the brand's logo and rounded backpacks.

The brand has now released a Japan-exclusive apparel line. To coincide with the 20th anniversary of select shop Journal Standard, the brand has teamed up with textile manufacturer Teijin Frontier to create a "triple collaboration" approach. The line features many items packed with the functionality and design they have long pursued.

All outerwear pieces are packable and ultra-lightweight. Additionally, the use of Solotex(R) material means that wrinkles "return" to their original shape, making it durable and easy to use. Its greatest appeal is its minimalist design that blends in with urban streetscapes. It also has high "fashion performance" that is not limited to outdoor scenes.

The appeal of this apparel line will be introduced by two creators who are active in the fashion world. In two parts, we will delve deeper from each perspective, male and female. In the first part, we spoke to Ochi Yasutaka, owner of Diligence Parlour, a popular flower shop in Omotesando.

--First of all, please tell us your honest impressions after trying it on.
The silhouette is very beautiful. It would go well with the trendy sports mix style, and I'd like to try pairing it with various items for everyday wear. I'm sure you'd look stylish standing in front of a store in this set.

--In terms of functionality, I think it would also suit work in a florist.
The fact that it's light and portable is very helpful. Even though I'm a florist, there are many different situations. I go to buy flowers, stand in front of the store, make deliveries, and go to meetings. Especially when I go to the market to buy flowers, by the time I get home it's as dirty as a rag. I have to move around carrying big bouquets and cardboard boxes. The material is strong and water-resistant, so it seems like it would be reliable.

--The short-sleeved set seemed more comfortable to move in.
It's very light, so I didn't feel it at all and it was stress-free. Also, the rustling sound of the fabric rubbing against each other really gets me excited. I bet it would look great running around the Imperial Palace in this (lol).

The gray and black coloring also brings out the colors of the flowers. I got some water stains on it while wearing it earlier, but a quick wipe removed the stain, so it seems like it would be easy to care for.

--What kind of outfits do you usually wear, Mr. Ochi?
I often mix and match different materials and designs. Try combining round designs with geometric designs, or mix synthetic and natural items. Synthetic items can be difficult to coordinate if they have an overly bold design. This has a simple design, so it looks easy to coordinate.

--Fashion that you show to others is important, but how it affects you as the wearer is also important.
The colors are muted and the designs are simple. That's why I think it brings out the individuality of the wearer. This isn't limited to people who work in the fashion industry, but as I mentioned earlier, I think it's very important for clothes to lift your spirits.

Living an active daily life, but still wanting to look good. Bach's apparel line, which combines functionality and fashionable design at a high level, may just satisfy the "selfish desires" of such fashion lovers.
