A pop-up store in collaboration with OPENING CEREMONY and Japanese street style magazine FRUiTS Magazine will run from May 16th to June 1st.
Since its launch in 1997, the magazine has focused on Harajuku culture and street style. The pop-up was decided upon by Opening Ceremony's creative director, Humberto Leon, who had been collecting copies of the magazine since its early days, and wanted to pay tribute to the magazine's editor-in-chief, Aoki, and the magazine upon its closure.
The pop-up will include vintage issues of FRUiTS Magazine, and will open first at the New York store, followed by the Los Angeles and Omotesando stores. The New York and Los Angeles stores will sell issues 1 through 100 of FRUiTS Magazine, with each issue limited to one to ten copies, while the Omotesando store will carry issues 44 through 100. Additionally, a limited edition unisex capsule collection will be available, including T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts featuring the "FRUiTS" logo.
During the period, the window display at the Omotesando store will also feature the cover of "FRUiTS Magazine." Visitors can stand in front of the window and have their photo taken, becoming "Harajuku Freestylers on the cover themselves," a playful display that will be sure to please.
