
The "French Film Festival 2017" will be held from June 22nd to 25th at the Asahi Hall and TOHO Cinemas Nichigeki in Yurakucho, Tokyo.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the festival, and French national actress Catherine Deneuve will be visiting Japan as the leader of the festival, with her starring film, "The Mldwlfe," opening the festival. Other films in the lineup include "Elle," a unique suspense film starring French treasure Isabelle Huppert; "Eternite," set in late 19th-century France, depicting the relationship between three generations of women as they experience encounters and partings to form a large family; "The Woman Who Loves Me," which depicts true love that begins with an encounter with a wounded war veteran; "Paris Is Still Playing Tonight," a comedy depicting the happenings of one night at a small Parisian theater; "Time with Cézanne," which depicts the friendship between the post-impressionist master Cézanne and the literary great Zola; "Princess at Dawn," a film adaptation of the story of a real doctor that was nominated for four César Awards; "Polina, Dance Me," which tells the story of a girl who experiences success and failure through dance as she grows up; and "Before the Morning Comes," the latest work by up-and-coming female director Katell Quillevere, all nine of which will be screened in Japan for the first time. A wide variety of French films will be screened every day during the festival, and many directors and actors will be visiting Japan, with talk events also planned. Advance tickets will be on sale from May 27th through Seven Tickets and TOHO Cinemas' ticket sales system "vit(R)".
