Tetsuo Kashiwada has published his first photo book, "MOTEL," and held an exhibition. The appearance, rooms, and people of the motel... he has captured memorable scenes in his photographs.

May 22, 2017

Photographer Tetsuo Kashiwada, celebrating his 10th year of photography, has published his first photo book, "MOTEL." To commemorate the occasion, a photo exhibition of the same name will be held on the first floor of AL in Ebisu, Tokyo, from June 16th to 25th. Kashiwada began traveling and taking photographs at the age of 19, inspired by a documentary film about traveling through America. During his first trip to America, he stayed at various motels, and the quiet motels on the side of the road, the dimly lit rooms even with the lights on, and the people he met sometimes made him feel as if he were watching a movie. The exhibition features selected works from the book, a compilation of Kashiwada's ongoing photographs, capturing scenes that remain in his mind as afterimages. Prints and the photo book will also be available for purchase at the venue.
