Sep 8, 2016

"100 Photos of Michio Hoshino," an exhibition by popular nature photographer Michio Hoshino, known for his work capturing the wilderness and wildlife of Alaska, is being held at TOBICHI2 in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, until September 19th.

This exhibition has a completely different atmosphere from "Michio Hoshino's Journey," a major retrospective exhibition marking the 20th anniversary of Hoshino's death that began at Matsuya Ginza and is currently touring the country. A giant light box created specifically for the exhibition is set up, displaying 100 of Michio Hoshino's 35mm film sheets, carefully selected from his many works. Visitors can use a magnifying glass to view the works one-on-one, and nine of the 100 works are available for purchase as prints and framed versions.

The lineup of works available for purchase includes "Grizzly Bear and Child," "Polar Bear Wandering in Search of Seals along the Coast of the Arctic Ocean," "Caribou Wandering the Melting Tundra," "Caribou Standing in the Autumn Tundra," and "Whale Bone Ruins and a Crescent Moon Floating in the Bering Sea." All works are priced at 54,000 yen including tax (shipping and handling fees not included). In addition to merchandise such as calendars and note cards, many of Hoshino Michio's currently available works will be on display.
