"TRANSMISSIONS people-to-people," a photo exhibition by Italian husband-and-wife photographers, will be held at the Chanel Nexus Hall in Ginza, Tokyo, from September 2nd to 30th, and at Center Park on the fourth floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from September 2nd to 22nd.
Since 2010, husband-and-wife team Tiziana and Gianni Baldizzone have been working on a photography project themed on the transmission of knowledge. They have traveled from Europe to Asia and Africa, meeting more than 100 masters and students in over 40 different fields. They delve deeply into these relationships, capturing in their photographs the subtle changes in facial expressions and movements of the students as they pass on knowledge, the inspiration for their creations, the individual relationships, and the bonds that develop through their interactions.
While each photograph is unique, it vividly depicts the common immutability of the act of knowledge transmission, providing viewers with an opportunity to reflect on a wide range of topics, including tradition and innovation, intergenerational exchange, cultural diversity, and the preservation of heritage. The exhibition will feature a number of works depicting people who embody the intangible culture and tangible skills that are the driving force behind human cultural diversity.
