Hotel New Otani Tokyo's "Marron Fair 2016"! 13 flavors in total, including fluffy ricotta-based "Caramel Marron Pancakes"

Hotel New Otani Tokyo is holding its "Marron Fair 2016" until November 30th, offering 13 original menu items using chestnuts, a quintessential autumn flavor.

One of the highlights is the "New Otani Special Caramel Chestnut Pancakes" (2,500 yen), available at the coffee shop SATSUKI on the lobby floor of The Main from September 16th to November 30th. The pancakes are made with a fluffy batter made from Italian ricotta, an original blend of eight-grain rice "J Cereal" powder, brown rice eggs from chickens raised on brown rice, and enzymes, and are caramelized on one side with wasanbon sugar. They are served with yokan jelly, almond custard, almond mill cream, two chestnuts with their skins, and a macaron.

Also, Patisserie SATSUKI on the same floor will be offering the "Super Mont Blanc" (2,100 yen), a seasonal autumn treat at the hotel, until January 31, 2017. This year, it's made with Japanese chestnuts, as well as koshian (smooth bean paste) kudzu jelly, bean paste made with Okinawan brown sugar syrup, wasanbon (Japanese sugar), and miscellaneous grains. The shop also offers the "Primamaron Pudding" (900 yen), which, like the Super Mont Blanc, is generously topped with chestnut paste from Hyogo Prefecture. The four layers of caramel, marron pudding, oshiruko (sweet red bean paste) jelly, and cream make for an exquisite dessert.

Also, Bar Capri on the same floor will be offering the "Frozen Mont Blanc" (2,000 yen), a frozen Mont Blanc cocktail, until November 30. This seasonal drink harmonizes the rich flavors of rich chocolate and chestnut.

Other dishes on offer include the Tea & Cocktail Garden Lounge's "Pierre Hermé Paris Dessert d'Automne "Sarah"" (2,300 yen), which allows you to enjoy the marriage of the sweetness of chestnuts, the astringency of matcha, and the sourness of passion fruit, and Pierre Hermé Paris's "Hommage" (700 yen), a cake that combines chestnut and pear ice cream, and the Chinese restaurant Taikanen's "Chestnut Sesame Dumplings" (1,050 yen) and "Marron Pudding" (1,000 yen). Japanese restaurant KATO'S DINING & BAR offers the "Japanese-style Ice Mont Blanc" (1,500 yen), which is made with milk gelato topped with refined Japanese chestnut paste and candied chestnuts in their skins, while Noodle Shop NAKAJIMA offers the "Marron Mitsumame" (1,500 yen), which combines rich bean paste with brown sugar syrup and agar made from fruit juices such as strawberry, mint, and muskmelon, and Steakhouse Rib Room offers the "Panna Cotta with Marron Gelato" (1,500 yen), a rich panna cotta made with plenty of fresh cream and vanilla and served with marron gelato. Additionally, TOWER CAFE will be offering original cocktails using chestnuts, such as "Café de Mont Blanc" (2,500 yen), an adult "drinkable Mont Blanc" with the bitter taste of coffee jelly and the aroma of aged rum, and "Marron & Berry Squash" (1,200 yen), a non-alcoholic drink made with chestnut and cherry syrup and cranberry drink.
