DFS releases travel movie starring Chinese supermodel Du Juan

Sep 9, 2014

DFS Group, a travel retailer with duty-free stores worldwide, has cast Du Juan, known as China's first international supermodel, in its fall/winter campaign film. The first in a six-part series has been released.

The film is set in tourist destinations such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Okinawa, Guam, Sydney, and Hawaii, as well as T Galleria stores. A montage of various art forms, including illustrations, photographs, and videos, creates a nostalgic travel journal atmosphere, featuring hand-drawn maps, characters, and cityscapes.

The film also stars Du Juan, the only Asian model to appear on the cover of French Vogue, and New York-based model RJ Rogenski. The illustrations were created by French illustrator Cassandre Montoriol, whose work includes Vanity Fair and Marie Claire. The film was directed by Mikon van Gastel.

In conjunction with the campaign, T Galleria stores in 14 locations around the world, including Okinawa, have completely redesigned their showcases. Travel-inspired phrases such as "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" are used on the displays, and the images from the film are incorporated into the stores through visual effects using graphic screens and vintage 8mm video. In addition, actual travel journals incorporating the culture of each region, such as sketches and illustrations, will also be on display.

The film will be released on the official website and social media platforms by October 20th.
