Aosando Art Fair 2014 held. Focus on "photography" including Wacoal x Maki Taguchi

Sep 21, 2014

The annual autumn art event, "Aosando Art Fair," will be held again this year. This year's eighth edition will run from October 23rd to 26th. The fair will take place at approximately 30 stores in the Aosando area, as well as in Aoyama, Omotesando, and Harajuku. More than 40 artists and groups will participate.

The annual art event's main purpose is to "introduce the joy of purchasing art to as many people as possible." In 2014, the fair will further this goal by focusing on photography, an essential part of modern life.

Unlike art like oil paintings and marble, which are rarely encountered without visiting a special venue like a museum, photographs are commonly encountered in everyday life. This is because photographs are ideal for recording and communicating. When engaging with an image, from family snapshots to photojournalism and fine art, the key is to understand what you can read from it and how you feel about it. However, for those who don't know what kind of photos to start with, there will also be photographs by 15 artists recommended by five directors, including "Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO" director Suzuki Kazunari.

In addition, at the collaborative photo exhibition "AZAMI - Portraits Without Faces" by the Wacoal Human Science Institute and photographer Taguchi Maki, you can enjoy an exhibition that explores the "beauty" of the female bust from the perspectives of science and art.

A reception party will be held at each participating store from 6pm to 9pm on the first day of the fair, the 23rd. Details will be announced on the official website as they become available.
