To commemorate the reopening of CAFE KITSUNE, Toraya, a Japanese confectionery shop with a history of nearly 500 years, will be introducing special Japanese sweets.
The sweets available exclusively at CAFE KITSUNE are two types made from manju and kinton, which are said to express the world view of MAISON KITSUNE.
The manju "Kitsune Fuku" is based on the small fox figurine displayed at CAFE KITSUNE. The white dough, made from grated yam meatballs, has a moist texture. The smooth red bean paste inside is made with Hokkaido-grown azuki beans. "Fox Fuku" means unexpected happiness. The adorable fox looks like it will bring you good fortune.
The other limited edition sweet, "Tamakitsune," is inspired by the FOX HEAD motif, an iconic item from Maison Kitsuné. Fox-colored and white bean paste is strained through a sieve to form a minced texture, which is then placed around the red bean paste to resemble a fox's fur. The minced texture is made from 100% rare white azuki beans with a delicate flavor, and is shaped like a curled up fox. Both will be sold exclusively at Cafe Kitsuné from October 1st. Both are priced at 480 yen.
