
Actress Raquel Welch was born on September 5, 1940, in Illinois, USA. She won numerous beauty contests, starting with one at age 15. She performed in local theater and worked as a television weather forecaster. After graduating from high school, she majored in theater at San Diego State College and married a classmate in 1959. She became the mother of two children, but the marriage eventually ended, and she moved to Texas with her children, working as a model and waitress. She later moved to Los Angeles, where she continued to work as a model and appeared in TV dramas such as Bewitched. She made her film debut in 1964's The Carnival of Youth, and appeared in the 1966 sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage, wearing a figure-hugging wetsuit. She also appeared in a leather bikini in the dinosaur film "One Million Years Old," released the same year, and was called "the most glamorous figure of the 20th century."
