The "Autumn Hokkaido Exhibition" kicked off on September 3rd at the event space on the 6th floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. The lineup included dishes made with nutritious vegetables and meats grown in the fertile soil, as well as a wide variety of sweets showcasing the richness of dairy products.
If you're a fan of Japanese ingredients like matcha and bean paste, you'll want to try "Fukuyoshi San Dee," the pride and joy of Asahikawa City's Fukuyoshi Cafe. Created through a collaboration between two long-established brands, Fukui Amesho, a bean paste shop founded in 1948, and Yoshikawaen, a tea shop founded in 1945, this sweet drink is unique to Fukuyoshi, and is made with a focus on the source, method, and quality.
We call it a "drink" because if the soft serve ice cream melts after eating it slowly, it's delicious mixed like a shake and drunk through a straw. The moment the matcha, soft-serve ice cream, and bean paste blend together and go down your throat, your heart (and stomach) will surely be filled with a sense of gratitude for being born in Japan.
You can also get into the Halloween spirit early by ordering the "Pumpkin Sundae" (500 yen) from the now-nationally renowned confectionery brand "LeTAO."
The fresh soft-serve ice cream is topped with "Potillon Double," a two-layer cake made with baked cheese and mascarpone mousse, incorporating Hokkaido pumpkin. This is a pumpkin-flavored version of the familiar "Double Fromage." Its mild sweetness is sure to appeal to older men. Enjoy the cake and soft-serve ice cream separately, or mix them together. The soft-serve ice cream is drizzled with maple syrup, adding depth to the flavor and making it even smoother.
Other sundaes available include strawberry flavored versions, so it's fun to frequent the store and enjoy a different flavor every day.
Also, when you stop by during your work break, why not buy a souvenir for your coworkers?
There are many great items that anyone would be happy to receive, such as the "Premium Sweet Potato," which uses plenty of seasonal flavors, and the "Freshly Baked Pumpkin & Rum Raisin Muffin," a heavyweight dessert with plenty of pumpkin in both the dough and topping, so choosing a gift in itself should be a lot of fun. Giving something tasteful will also increase your stock, so why not chat with the staff and choose an item that suits the recipient's tastes?
