The "Only MI Autumn Campaign," held at Isetan Shinjuku from September 10th to 23rd, will feature several women's fashion items created by PAPRIKA EDITION, a five-person computer graphics group based in London.
For this campaign, PAPRIKA EDITION tackled the theme of "traditional art." By elevating Ise Katagami (paper cuttings) owned by Isetan Mitsukoshi into a fashionable style, they created two clutch bags (13,000 yen each), a dress (31,000 yen), and a pullover (26,000 yen). They also incorporated the "World Patterns" design by Shigeki Nakamura, a leading figure in art direction and graphic design, into a clutch bag (13,000 yen).
There are a total of five clutches featuring "World Patterns." By not limiting the patterns to specific regions, such as Africa, Sweden, and Laos, the idea is to allow visitors to enjoy designs from around the world.
During the campaign, two artists will decorate the space where these items are displayed. The first is London-based animation artist Noriko Ozumi. She has produced a special movie themed around the project, providing a space for visitors to "see, listen, and enjoy art." Some of the footage shown was created in collaboration with Paprika Edition, depicting traditional Ise Katagami paper stencils transformed into Paprika Edition-inspired designs.
The second artist (name withheld) created the display boxes for the products. The boxes use a material that changes color in a rainbow depending on the light, expressing the concept of the products.
Each product, a collaboration between Ise Katagami and global patterns, will be displayed in separate exhibition zones, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in each unique worldview.
