
Golden Week finally begins this weekend! Are you planning on heading out? We've picked out some nearby locations, so head over as soon as you feel like it!

■Yoshiyuki Okuyama's large-scale photo exhibition, "The Town Where You Live," is now open. Tokyo landscapes with 35 women, including Hirose Suzu, Arimura Kasumi, and Nikaido Fumi
At the tender age of 25, photographer Okuyama Yoshiyuki won the Kodansha Publishing Culture Photography Award, and has continued to achieve remarkable success in fashion magazines, CD jackets, advertising, and the video industry. His "Okuyama Yoshiyuki Photo Exhibition: The City Where You Live" will be held until May 7th at Space O on the third basement floor of the main building of Omotesando Hills in Tokyo. Photographs featuring Hirose Suzu, Komatsu Nana, and others are on display.
■Celebrating 80 years since Fujio Akatsuka's birth and 50 years since "Tensai Bakabon" and "Moeru Ataro"! "Spring Bichutsu Exhibition" to be held in Shibuya
In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Fujio Akatsuka's birth and the 50th anniversary of "Tensai Bakabon" and "Moeru Ataro," the "Spring Bichutsu Exhibition" will be held at GALLERY X BY PARCO in Shibuya, Tokyo until May 14th. Reproductions of original drawings will be exhibited in a story format, and limited edition items will also be available for sale.
■The full picture of Ryuichi Sakamoto's first new album in eight years is revealed at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art, as an "Installation Music Exhibition" is held
The "Sakamoto Ryuichi | Installation Music Exhibition" will be held until May 28th at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Aoyama, Tokyo, introducing the world of musician Ryuichi Sakamoto's first new album in eight years, "async" (3,780 yen including tax/pre-release in Japan on March 29th, worldwide release on April 28th) from various angles through sound, video and installation.
■Katayama Masamichi's vast collection of books, CDs, antiques, furniture... all gathered in one place. "The Katayama Masamichi Encyclopedia" is currently on display
"The Katayama Masamichi Encyclopedia," which explores the collector side of Katayama Masamichi, a world-renowned interior designer, is on display at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo, until June 25th. Visitors can explore the essence of Katayama's creativity through items carefully selected by Katayama's discerning eye, including books, CDs, stuffed animals, and antiques.
■An exhibition of Yanagisawa Makoto, the photographer who only held four solo exhibitions in his lifetime, is being held
To commemorate the publication of Yanagisawa Makoto's photo book "Untitled" (published by roshin books, 5,000 yen), Zen Foto Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo, will be holding a Yanagisawa Makoto photo exhibition from April 22nd to May 20th. This is a rare opportunity to see all of Yanagisawa's work, who only held four solo exhibitions of his own volition during his lifetime. The exhibition will also feature vintage prints.

■Enjoy Golden Week with art from Mapplethorpe, Araki, and Warhol's art cars: A quick guide to the "KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival"
The "KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival," held at 16 venues, including historical buildings in Kyoto, began on April 14th. You can view photographs by famous artists while strolling around Kyoto City, including a full-scale Robert Mapplethorpe solo exhibition sponsored by Chanel, an exhibition by Nobuyoshi Araki at Ryosokuin, a sub-temple of Kenninji Temple, and an exhibition by Ryan McGinley at the "Eki" art museum on the 7th floor of the JR Kyoto Isetan building.
■A magnificent world unfolds from the tip of a pen. Ikeda Manabu's first solo exhibition in Japan is currently being held at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa
The first large-scale solo exhibition in Japan by Ikeda Manabu, an artist who paints magnificent worlds using an extremely fine pen tip, is being held at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, until July 9th. This first-of-its-kind exhibition in Japan will feature approximately 120 works that cover Ikeda's entire artistic career, from his earliest works to his latest work, "Birth."
■An outdoor film festival, "Forest Film Festival Intersecting with the Night Sky," is being held on Sakushima, the "island of art"! Spin-off event also taking place in Yamanashi during Golden Week
As a spin-off of the "Forest Film Festival Intersecting with the Night Sky," an all-night outdoor film festival to be held on Sakushima Island in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture on October 7th, "Forest Screening Intersecting with the Night Sky IN Golden Week 2017" will be held in Beruga, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture from April 29th to May 6th. Approximately 50 feature films and short films will be screened on multiple special screens set up in locations such as forests, rivers, and rocky areas.
