Yuzhik Asagaya, a cinema in Tokyo's Suginami Ward, will be holding a special screening of works by Russian animation director Yuri Norstein from April 29th to May 12th to celebrate the cinema's second anniversary. The name Yuzhik Asagaya comes from the little hedgehog Yozhik, who appears in Norstein's masterpiece, "Hedgehog in the Fog." This special screening will feature digitally remastered versions of six films closely associated with the cinema: "Tale of Tales," "The 25th, the First Day," "The Battle of Kerzhezhez," "The Fox and the Hare," and "The Heron and the Crane." This period will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Norstein's animation. Also on sale during the screening will be rare Norstein merchandise previously sold at an animation festival held at sister cinema Laputa Asagaya. Furthermore, a Norstein print exhibition will be held at Restaurant Yamanekoken on the third floor of Laputa Asagaya.
