Moynat, a French trunk maker founded by Pauline Moynat in 1849, will open its first store in Japan at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store on March 1st.
The flagship boutique will feature a lineup of women's and men's leather goods, accessories, trunks, textiles, and more. It also accepts customization orders, such as hand-painted initials and made-to-measure trunks and handbags.
The interior design was created by Curiosity, a Tokyo-based architecture and graphic design studio founded by French designer Gwenael Nicolas. The store will be decorated in the Havana colors unique to Moynat trunks, and items will be spotlighted and arranged as if floating in the air.
In addition, to commemorate the opening, Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store will be selling a limited edition of the new "Fleur" bag, and the "Moynat Vintage Trunk Exhibition" will be held on the first floor of Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store from March 2nd to 15th. The exhibition will feature a display of vintage trunks along with the history of Moynat, as well as the craftsmanship of artisans who have come to Japan from the Paris atelier.
