Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each store of art bookstore "NADiff" will introduce a book they recommend. This time, we will be introducing Gallery 5, a branch in Shinjuku, Tokyo (3-20-2 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo Opera City Tower, 3rd floor).

■ "Catalogue, Simon Fujiwara (2016)"

Simon Fujiwara is a 33-year-old artist born to a Japanese father and an English mother, currently based in Berlin. In recent years, he has received international awards and held large-scale solo exhibitions, garnering international attention as an outstanding young contemporary artist. This book, the first in Japan to compile 34 of Fujiwara's earliest and most recent works, was recently featured on the "Art Scene" segment of the NHK program "Sunday Art Museum" on February 7th. It was published in conjunction with the exhibition "Simon Fujiwara | White Day," currently on view at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. The essays by the curator, a writer, and Fujiwara's economist brother provide a guide to interpreting the world of Simon Fujiwara's meticulously crafted works, interweaving social and personal events. The sophisticated binding, with its plastic-covered cover and predominantly white design, exudes attention to detail and seems to symbolize Fujiwara's own style and philosophy. The exhibition "Simon Fujiwara | White Day" runs until March 27th.
