Bubo Barcelona, a leading Spanish luxury patisserie, is pre-selling its popular products from its home country at the Isetan Shinjuku store until May 31st, ahead of the opening of its first Japanese store in 2016.
Bubo Barcelona was opened in 2005 by chef patisserie Carles Mampel, who holds the title of Spain's best patisserie. Using fresh ingredients and carefully selected raw materials, Bubo offers sweets that bring out the natural flavor of the ingredients and are carefully combined to create deep flavors. The shop is known for its healthy and simple flavors, using fresh Spanish olive oil instead of butter to match the unique characteristics of its products. In addition to chocolates such as bonbons and cakes, the shop also offers macarons, baked goods, and viennoiserie.
The highlight of this pre-sale is the sale of "Xabina" (800 yen), which won the "Best Chocolate Cake" award at the pastry chefs' world competition, "La Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie." The cake is made of a sponge cake shaped like a Spanish omelette soaked in natural vanilla syrup, coated with smooth chocolate mousse, and topped with an olive oil cake base mixed with spices such as cinnamon and clove, and a chocolate macaron on top.
Other cakes popular in Spain are also available, such as "NAMERAKA" (740 yen), which is made with a cream center using high-quality tonka beans and a base of crepe and financier dough, "Sasha" (640 yen), which is a sponge cake soaked in cocoa water, and "Sahara" (640 yen), which is caramelized banana wrapped in tart yuzu mousse.
Other items on sale include macarons (5 types/300 yen each) with delicate dough wrapped in a smooth ganache, "Choco Fruits" (100g/2,400 yen, 190g/3,700 yen) with large nuts, and an assortment of bonbon chocolates (4 pieces/2,000 yen, 6 pieces/2,800 yen).
