Discover nostalgic, retro-modern Japanese bread at the Aoyama Bread Festival!

May 17, 2016

The 9th Aoyama Bread Festival, featuring approximately 40 bakeries, will be held on May 28th and 29th at the Farmer's Market @ UNU in front of the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo.

This year, approximately 40 bakeries familiar from the Aoyama Bread Festival will be participating, bringing together nostalgic Japanese breads, including sweet and savory breads, that continue to evolve into modern styles. Bread accompaniments like jam and honey, drinks like coffee and beer, and food like sandwiches will also be available.

Food options include Katane Bakery's "Katame Yakisoba Bread," a slice of bread with green laver and topped with katame yakisoba from French restaurant L'Effervescence. Only 200 servings will be available per day. Additionally, Bread Lab, the event organizer, will open a "purchasing section" where you can find all the koppepan you want to eat. Additionally, beer made with natural yeast newly developed by Tarmary, a homemade natural yeast bakery in Chizu Town, Tottori Prefecture, will also be on sale.

Bread vendors include Angel NEW!, iacoupe, Kayaba Bakery NEW!, Miura Bakery Mitsumugi, Oheso Cafe & Bakery, L'Atelier du Pain, SOPO BAGEL, cocobagel, Lotus Baguette, Fluffy, Levain, Bocchi SEGAWA PEANUT, Go muffins go! / ecru, and Bäckerei Cafe Linde.
