No CG whatsoever! A divine "light painting" that depicts the earth and nightscape on a canvas

May 16, 2016

Visual artist Eric Pare, originally from Canada and currently based in Montreal, is a prolific artist. His skillful use of light has garnered him attention, even appearing on popular American networks like CNN and MTV. His project, "Signs of Light," which he began in 2013, is currently garnering significant attention.

"Signs of Light" centers around a collaboration with dancer Kim Henry. The technique is incredibly simple: late at night, when the city lights are dimmed, he waves transparent tubes containing lights around Kim as she poses, capturing the moment with the shutter. However, the resulting work is hard to believe was captured using such a process, and one feels as if one is witnessing a mystical, almost divine moment. Eric calls this technique "light painting," and says that it offers unlimited creative possibilities without rules or restrictions.

Eric has traveled and photographed his works in locations such as the ocean and desert. When not traveling, he works daily with his team in his studio in Montreal, utilizing a camera system he developed that allows for 360-degree photography. He has also held workshops to teach his light painting techniques in Mexico City, Dubai, San Francisco, and New York. What kind of beautiful works result from the simple photography method of light painting? The videos on his website are well worth a look.
