To celebrate the 130th anniversary of Isetan's founding, rag & bone will open a pop-up store, "THE BROOKLYN GENERAL," from May 25th to 31st at Center Park/The Stage #3 on the third floor of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store.
The concept of the pop-up shop is a Brooklyn flea market. It is a rag & bone-inspired version of the weekend flea market in Brooklyn, where a wide variety of items and styles are gathered, from general stores known only to locals to souvenir shops selling New York-inspired print T-shirts.
Photo T-shirts featuring New York cityscapes taken by designer Marcus, known as an avid photographer, are available. Two models are available: "Williamsburg Bridge" (¥15,000), featuring the headlights of cars crossing the Williamsburg Bridge, and "Brooklyn Bridge" (¥15,000), featuring the Brooklyn Bridge, which connects Manhattan to Brooklyn, where Marcus lives with his family. Other items on offer include graphic T-shirts depicting the New York skyline in black and white. An Isetan-exclusive item, the "New York City Graphic Tee" (15,000 yen), will be available, using the body of a classic T-shirt from rag & bone's basic line, "Standard Issue." Also on sale will be six original tattoo stickers (set of six, 1,600 yen) specially designed by Alex McWatt, one of the founders of the world-famous New York tattoo studio Three Kings Tattoo, as well as a collection of custom accessories, each individually handmade by the artisans at Workhouse in Brooklyn, who also produce rag & bone's store fixtures. The store will also feature items from Party Supply by Knot & Bow, a specialty store that handles gift wrapping and paper products; a candle (¥9,000) in collaboration with Le Labo, a leading New York perfume shop; a bag (¥3,000) printed with the pop-up shop's title; and posters (¥1,900 and ¥3,000) by Coloring Map by OMY, featuring pop-up illustrations of New York City. Other items include a gift box (¥4,000) filled with craftsmanship created in collaboration with Brooklyn Ribbon Fries, the Japanese restaurant opened by Brooklyn-based restaurant producer Kiyo Shinoki, who directs BOHEMIAN and TAKUMEN, two restaurants frequented by rag & bone staff. The store will also feature the brand's signature bottle bouquets (¥4,000 for medium size and ¥6,500 for large size) in a space designed by plant artist Satoshi Kawamoto, who also runs the lifestyle shop GREEN FINGERS.
