To commemorate the 130th anniversary of Isetan's founding, the Main Building and Men's Building of Isetan Shinjuku will be holding "New York Week," a fair showcasing the latest New York lifestyle trends, from May 25th to 31st.
The fair will showcase the charm of New York, where the city's trends are constantly shifting from Downtown to Brooklyn and from Brooklyn to Uptown, under the theme of "ECLECTIC NEW YORK."
The main venue, the event hall on the 6th floor of the Main Building, will host a "New York Exhibition" from May 25th to 30th. The food zone will feature popular organic burgers, including the "County Fair Set" (2,300 yen) from New York-based BAREBURGER. Popular Brooklyn-based cafe bakery BAKED will be selling sweets such as the "Deep Dark Brownie" (500 yen) and "Brown Sugar Blondie" (500 yen). Chikalicious New York Amarige, a dessert bar popular with New Yorkers, will also be selling "Doughnut" (451 yen each, tax included), a croissant-flavored dessert created by the brand, and "Fruit Spread" (1,500 yen), which helped make Sarabeth's, known as the "Queen of Breakfast," known worldwide. The Lifestyle Zone will feature items such as boxes (4,200 yen), steel cups (4,800 yen), and T-shirts (6,000 yen) from Best Made, a New York-based lifestyle brand. During the event, pop-up shops themed around New York will be open on each floor, in addition to the event space. The main building's West Park/Promotion section on the third floor will feature a pop-up shop by rag & bone inspired by a Brooklyn flea market, while The Stage on the second floor will showcase popular Brooklyn shops through original tote bags. Additionally, Re-Style on the third floor will feature clutch bags, bandanas, and other items created in collaboration with LUGHA and artwork by New York artist Bradley Theodore's New York Finest. International Creators on the second floor of the Men's Building will feature limited-edition items featuring striking designs by graphic artist Kenzo Minami. Furthermore, The Stage on the first floor of the main building will feature a stage project called "CREATORS STUDIO FROM 90'S TO THE PRESENT," centered around fashion, art, and music. In addition to works by photographers Ryan McGinley and Takashi Homma, items inspired by 90s culture will also be on sale, including vintage T-shirts, cassette decks, art books, and more.
The art gallery on the 5th floor of the main building will host "photo: New York 1950s-1970s," an exhibition of New York photographs from the 1950s to the 1970s taken by world-renowned photographers who were inspired by their unique sensibilities.
