LOLA'S Cupcakes, a cupcake brand founded in 2006 in London, the birthplace of cupcakes, announced the opening of its first Japanese store on the second floor of the Cascade Harajuku shopping complex on October 3rd. The brand was launched when two childhood friends, Victoria and Romy, living in the UK, started selling custom-made cupcakes after the adorable cupcakes they made for their friends sparked buzz. The brand quickly gained popularity throughout London, and just a few years later, it opened stores in famous department stores like Harrods and Selfridges. Mario, the son of a third-generation baker with a passion for baked goods, took over the business and, together with his son Asher, has grown it into London's largest cupcake chain with the largest number of stores. The brand is currently expanding overseas, including to the Middle East, including the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At the first Japanese store, opening in Harajuku, a pastry chef trained at London's Lola's Cupcakes will offer authentic flavors while developing original Japanese recipes. While cherishing the original flavor and cuteness beloved in the home country, the female pastry chef has worked tirelessly to create sweets that suit Japanese tastes. The lineup includes the adorable "CUPCAKES" (Tiny 250-300 yen, Regular 460-560 yen), the "SHOW GIRL" (serves 3-4 people 2,500 yen, serves approximately 20 people 9,500 yen), perfect for birthday cakes also popular in the home country, and the "Layer Cakes" (600 yen per slice), a simple cut cake that lets you enjoy the texture. Also available is "Image Cupcakes," which can be printed with your favorite image, such as a company logo or photo. Regular size cakes are priced at 115 yen for orders of 30 or more, and tiny size cakes are priced at 70 yen for orders of 50 or more. A "Party Cake," which is a whole cake topped with cupcakes, will also be available as a special order service.
